The road to peace may sometimes be walked with much pain and many tears. But it also comes with much grace from the One who paved it for us and walks it with us.
It’s never easy when the Lord rips our idols away from us. It’s always painful for Him to expose our character defects and insecurities. So when we are left sitting in our own brokenness and everything happening feels like it’s hitting a huge bundle of raw, exposed nerves, it’s easy to think that He doesn’t care. It’s easy to think things will always be this way.
But if we can take a deeper look and see what He is actually trying to expose, we can see that the things we were hoping in would never satisfy. And the longer we stayed in that condition the more destruction we might cause and the more it would hurt when it did get exposed. It is His mercy and grace to do it now.
Allow the healing light of the gospel to do it’s work. Now that the wound has been exposed and cleaned it can be treated and begin mending. He is a good and skillful surgeon.
“Here’s the good news: God is faithful and will do what is necessary to craft real faith in us. Faith isn’t natural for us. It’s not natural for us to rest our entire past, present, and future on someone we cannot hear, see, or touch. Doubt is natural. Envy is natural. Fear is natural. Worry is natural. Trying to figure out what’s coming next is natural. Trusting our own strength and wisdom is natural, but faith is not natural for us. So God works in sanctifying grace to turn baby believers into mature people of faith. He will not relent until that work is complete. Nothing can stop the move of his transforming grace. Here’s what you need to understand: YOUR faith is not your hope; HIS zealous GRACE is the only source of hope for fickle-faith sinners.” – Paul Tripp
